Olie's Country Kitchen was
named after an amazing woman, Viola "Olie" Meyer, our
grandmother. Grandma Olie passed away, after a
vibrant 85 years, in October, 2003. We decided to
purchase this restaurant, which has a long history in
Aviston, and dedicate it to our Grandma's memory.
Four children, nine grandchildren, and seven
great-grandchildren adore her more than words can say.
We want the restaurant to reflect the warmth, style, and
cheerfulness that was Grandma Olie.
Grandma Olie was born in
St. Rose and lived in Aviston since the early 1940's.
She devoted herself to her family and friends; often
times, to everyone's delight, by preparing amazing meals
and desserts. "Excellent cook" is a phrase that
was repeatedly used when describing Grandma Olie.
Pies, homemade noodles, and the famous Grandma Olie meal
(roast beef, potatoes, and carrots) are just a few of
her specialties. By providing families and friends
that visit our restaurant with quality meals and
service, we strive to honor the memory and reputation of
Grandma Olie.
